Zita Labs LLC ("Zita Labs," "we," "our," or "us") operates the MyMenuMap mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Sign-in credentials: If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address as provided by those services. If you continue as a guest, we generate an anonymous identifier — no personal information is required.
Menu and Restaurant Data
- Photos you capture: When you photograph a restaurant menu or a dish, the image is uploaded to our servers.
- Restaurant information: The restaurant name, city, and associated location metadata (such as coordinates) you provide or select via autocomplete when scanning a menu.
Order and Preference Data
- Order history: Dishes you log, including portion sizes, ratings, photos you upload, and notes.
- Dietary preferences: Allergies, dietary restrictions, optimization goals, budget settings, and nutritional constraints you configure in your profile. This information may be considered health-related data under certain laws (see "Sensitive Health-Related Information" below).
Automatically Collected Information
- Device information: Basic device identifiers necessary for authentication and crash reporting.
- Location data: If you grant location permission, we collect your approximate location to improve restaurant suggestions. Location is not stored on our servers beyond the scan session. If you deny location permission, the App falls back to general region estimation and still functions normally.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Process menu images using AI (Google Gemini) to estimate nutritional content and identify allergens. Your dietary preferences and allergen data may be included in information sent to AI services for processing.
- Display restaurant suggestions via the Google Maps Places API based on your text input and, if you grant location permission, your approximate location to prioritize nearby results
- Store your order history, ratings, and preferences so they sync across sessions
- Calculate personalized nutritional metrics based on your dietary goals
- Authenticate your account and maintain your session
- Train and improve our machine learning models and algorithms using uploaded content (such as menu photos, dish photos, ratings, and tags) to enhance nutritional estimation, allergen detection, and recommendations
- Generate aggregated, anonymized dish ratings and analytics from user-submitted data
- Display dish and menu photos, ratings, and tags to other users in connection with restaurant and dish information (see "Content Visibility and Social Features" below)
- Perform data analytics to understand how users interact with the App, including feature usage and engagement patterns, in order to improve the App and develop new features
We process your information based on your consent, the necessity to provide the App's functionality, and our legitimate interests in improving the App and developing new features.
3. Sensitive Health-Related Information
Certain information you provide — such as food allergies, dietary restrictions, and health-related nutritional goals — may be considered sensitive or health-related data under applicable laws. By providing this information in the App, you consent to its collection and processing for the purposes described in this policy, including personalization of dish recommendations and allergen detection. You may remove this data at any time by updating your profile in Settings, or by deleting your account entirely.
4. How We Share Your Information
- We may share aggregated or anonymized data with third parties for analytics, research, or business purposes. This includes aggregated dish ratings, nutritional patterns, and other derived analytics that do not identify individual users.
- We may share data with service providers who assist in operating the App, strictly as necessary for those services. We use specific third-party providers including, but not limited to:
- Google — for AI processing via Gemini and for restaurant search via Google Maps Places API
- Supabase — for database and storage infrastructure
These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect your information.
- If we share personally identifiable information with third parties beyond what is described here, we will update this policy accordingly and notify users by updating the "Last updated" date.
- We will disclose your information if required by law, legal process, or governmental request.
5. Content Visibility and Social Features
Your photos, ratings, and tags may be visible to other users under the following tiers:
- Anonymous (default). Dish and menu photos, ratings, and tags you submit may be displayed to other users in connection with restaurant and dish information, without any link to your account or profile. No action is required — this is part of the standard service.
- Social (opt-in). If you choose to enable social features, your profile and activity (including photos, ratings, and order history) may be visible to users you connect with. You must explicitly opt in to this feature, and you can disable it at any time in Settings.
- Public profile (opt-in). If you choose to make your profile public, your profile and activity may be visible to all users of the App. This is a separate setting from social features and requires its own explicit opt-in. You can disable it at any time in Settings.
Disabling social or public visibility returns your content to anonymous-only display. Previously cached or archived content may remain visible for a reasonable transition period.
6. Derived Data
Data we generate by processing your content — such as nutritional estimates, extracted menu text, dish classifications, and aggregated analytics — is owned by Zita Labs LLC. This derived data does not identify you personally and is not deleted when you delete your account.
7. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Supabase's cloud infrastructure with industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to your data is restricted by Row Level Security policies, designed to ensure that only authorized users can access their own data.
8. Data Transfers
Your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to these locations.
9. Data Retention
- Menu images: Retained as long as your account is active.
- Account data: Retained as long as your account is active.
- Deleted accounts: When you delete your account (available in Settings), all personal data associated with your account — profile, order history, ratings, photos, and preferences — is permanently removed from our servers, except for anonymized, aggregated, or derived data as described in Section 6.
10. Your Rights
You can:
- Access your data at any time within the App (profile, order history, preferences).
- Update your profile and preferences in Settings.
- Delete your account and all associated data from the Settings screen.
- Contact us with questions or requests regarding your data (see contact information below).
11. Children's Privacy
The App is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal data, you may delete the account directly from the App's Settings screen, or contact us at support@mymenumap.app with the subject line "Child Account Deletion" for assistance.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
